The complete story

Inas arrives with several questions in her mind. She does not tell us here what they concern. Her account begins in the retreat’s second sharing circle, after the second ceremony. For her, the previous evening was her first ceremony. She says she received answers in a very strong experience, both in what she perceived and in her emotions.

On this ayahuasca retreat, the second ceremony of the stay is Inas’s first. At the beginning, it is difficult. Then she says she can let go and allow the experience to pass through. The songs accompany her and she feels supported through that intense passage. The questions she brought find answers in her experience, though she does not describe those answers in detail.

She describes shapes, numbers, and images of Egyptian deities. The singing voice continues to resonate within her. Those perceptions remain very present in her account of the ceremony. But her final reflection also turns towards something simpler and more intimate: being able to cry.

On this ayahuasca retreat, during the third ceremony, Inas's emotions finally find a way through. She explains that she had been unable to cry for a while. During the final evening, voices and songs bring her emotions to the surface. She compares the feeling to a ball bursting open. As she shares, she says she feels good, thanks the group, and feels as though she is with a family.

Her thanks are brief but precise. She knows what she has felt: answers, support, emotions coming to the surface, and closeness to the people present.

Inas does not explain everything she has experienced. She leaves with the words she can speak in the sharing circle: she feels good, and she thanks each person for what they contributed.
