The complete story

Adriana’s testimony begins in the second sharing circle, after the retreat’s second ceremony. She describes what she is reconnecting with in herself. Her final sharing circle, after the third ceremony, will give a different place to her connection with others. She also looks back at her professional life before the retreat.

Adriana supports other people's emotions in her social work. She says she connects deeply with the people she helps but had grown distant from herself. She also arrives during a period of professional change, with questions about which direction to take.

On this ayahuasca retreat, in the second sharing circle, Adriana reconnects with herself through music. In her work, she supports many other people's emotions but had felt disconnected from what was happening within her. The songs touch her and she describes relief. Dance, which she also practises and teaches, takes on a different place in her questions: she wants to keep exploring that path.

Music has already helped her move through sadness. During the stay, that experience returns with a wish to share it. She thinks she might also help people through music and dance. Her professional questions find a direction in that wish, one she wants to keep exploring.

She describes her feelings in Spanish, with a translation shared before the group. She speaks of the suffering, release, and joy she has sensed around her. She thanks the team for their affection, attention, and professionalism.

On this ayahuasca retreat, reflecting after the third ceremony, Adriana keeps one thing: she does not feel alone with her suffering. Through listening and living these days with others, she recognises the difficulties each person faces, alongside their strength and wish to continue. She describes the group as a large family and says she feels full of love. Other people's presence is part of what she takes home.

There is still a way to go, and she says so in her final account. She wants to continue caring for her heart and mind. The words she gives the group are also wishes for each person's happiness and love.

Adriana leaves with a renewed connection to what she feels and with a professional reflection that finds greater meaning in music and dance. She was used to supporting other people's emotions. During these days, she was also able to give attention to her own.
