Connecta Life Integration and Spiritual Awakening

Kambo — The medicine of the Amazonian frog

A deep physical purification, used by the Matsés and Kaxinawá peoples for centuries, to revitalize the body, the mind and the vital energy.

Connecta Life is not only an information website: we organize French-led retreats in Catalonia, in small groups, with preparation, support and integration.

What is Kambo?

Kambo is the skin secretion of a non-toxic Amazonian frog, Phyllomedusa bicolor. Collected without harming the animal, it is dried then applied to small superficial burn points on the skin, called "gates", to allow the active peptides to enter the lymphatic system.

The ceremony lasts about 30 to 45 minutes. It triggers an intense but brief physical reaction : redness, swelling of the face, sweating, sometimes nausea and vomiting — which are part of the cleansing process. The effect passes quickly, leaving a feeling of clarity, lightness and reset often described as « years younger ».

Reported benefits

  • Bodily purification — elimination of toxins stored in the organs
  • Immune strengthening — the peptides stimulate the immune and lymphatic system
  • Mental clarity — feeling of "fog lifted", increased concentration
  • Energetic reset — dissolution of emotional blockages stored in the body
  • Preparation for other medicines — cleanses the ground before ayahuasca or Bufo

Preliminary scientific research (notably on dermorphin and deltorphin) explores its analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antidepressant effects.

How does a ceremony unfold?

  1. Preparation: 12h of fasting before, 1.5 L of water to drink just before the session.
  2. Burn points: the facilitator marks 3 to 10 small superficial points on your skin (shoulder or leg, your choice). It is not painful — just a short sensation of heat.
  3. Application: the Kambo is placed on the points, the peptides diffuse within a few seconds.
  4. Reaction: heat, swelling, accelerated heartbeat, often vomiting (normal and liberating). The facilitator accompanies you throughout.
  5. Rest: 30-45 min later, the reaction subsides. The rest of the day is dedicated to rest and hydration.

Frequently asked questions

Do the burns leave scars?

The points are very superficial (about 1-2 mm). They sometimes leave a small light mark that fades within a few months in most participants. Some traditions consider these marks as a testimony of the medicine received.

Does Kambo make you "trip"?

No. Kambo is not psychedelic. It is a physical and energetic purification. Some people do report emotional releases or realizations, but without any visual or perceptual alteration.

Kambo and ayahuasca, can they be combined?

Yes, and it is a common traditional practice. Kambo is often used before an ayahuasca retreat to cleanse the ground. At Connecta Life, we offer this option during certain retreats — to be decided with the facilitator according to your profile.

How much does a Kambo ceremony cost?

The Kambo ceremony is offered as an option during a retreat. Detailed prices on our pricing page.
